Austrailan Chrysoprase and Sterling Silver Necklace

This free-form cabochon is Chrysoprase from Australia. Chrysoprase is a subgroup of the Chalcedony quartz stone group. It is considered the rarest of the chalcedony stones. Chrysoprase is special because it is one of the very few gemstones colored by nickel. Most green gemstones are colored by iron, chromium or vanadium. The vivid coloring of Chrysoprase is similar to fine jade and can range from Apple Green to a Deep Green. This cabochon is no exception – with a striking green color and nice subtle light matrix throughout.

I've set the cabochon in Sterling Silver with an interesting Sterling Silver bezel to highlight the natural beauty of this gemstone.

The pendant hangs from black leather round cord with a Sterling Silver handmade hook. Leather cord can be shortened.
